To make you smile {And a reminder of HOPE through disappointment}

Okay–first…wanna see what life is REALLY like at our house?! I mean, we aren’t right by any means–but we sure have fun. I couldn’t find my little Flip video there for a bit but I’ve taken snippets of life here lately–and these are just funny things I always want to remember… We built a playset […]

Thank you for letting God speak through you today… you know I needed it! -Nikki

Lara - March 10, 2011 - 8:48 am

Love all that crazy! I have an old family hashbrown caserole recipe that my family calls “funeral potatoes” because at any funeral it is a guarantee that those potatoes will be served! And you are BRAVE giving up the tube. My 4 year old is a bit of a cartoon junkie and it can be a real fight to keep the cartoons to minimum.

emily v - March 10, 2011 - 8:52 am

Great word Andrea! He is the author of all HOPE! As I have been praying for and over the situation, I too have been reminded that God is sovereign over this…There is such peace in that!

Carrie - March 10, 2011 - 10:19 am

Thank you so much for this post! How I needed to be reminded of those truths about hope!!

Missy - March 10, 2011 - 12:36 pm

Thank you so much for listening to the Lord and sharing these words from God. They fill my heart with hope and encouragement during this time. -Missy

Alison - March 10, 2011 - 1:38 pm

Oh, Andrea! I love this post! So cool b/c those truths are exactly what God has been teaching me through this time…I have to surrender everything to Hi. Even my daughter!! I love her so much, but I love HIM more and want Him to be glorified on every step of our journey to Caroline Faith!

Alison - March 10, 2011 - 1:38 pm

Meant to write…surrender everything to Him!!! 🙂

Jill - March 10, 2011 - 5:32 pm

What great truth…I needed to hear this today! I’m so thankful we serve a God who works out everything for HIS glory…even in the middle of a painful journey, when we don’t understand, He is working out His perfect plan and allows us the opportunity to experience Him in a rich way through it all!

Kirsten Gregoire - March 10, 2011 - 11:55 pm

Thank you so much for your insight and your encouragement through this verse. We only JUST began the adoption process a few short weeks ago, but strangely have a weird peace about all that is going on. We know God is bigger than our circumstances and that nothing that is happening right now is a surprise to Him!!!

Caytie Hirschberg - March 11, 2011 - 12:03 am

What a beautiful reminder! For He is able to do more then we could possibly imagine! Our trust should be completely in Him and nothing else! thank you for sharing this message and reminding us of our need to trust in Him in all things!

love ITY’s happy visit! enjoyed the videos of your kiddos…soo cute:)

Megan - March 11, 2011 - 2:44 am

Thank you SO much for this….I needed to hear/read these words today. You often find those bits in scripture that I seem to miss and I LOVE reading what you get out of it. This has been a bleak week, but I am so HOPEFUL that things will all work out. There have been too many miracles in our little T’s story already that I believe He can and WILL knock my socks off once again.

Mama Zen - March 11, 2011 - 1:26 pm

This is so uplifting! Thank you!

Wiphan Waddle (Part 2) {fun videos…so turn the music off up top!}

First–there are very few things that take my breath away–but I just had to hold it for a bit on Saturday at the Wiphan Warthog Waddle. The day started with RAIN–and I was sure few would come out. BUT to my surprise MANY did. I was taken back again when one a regular racer and […]

What a precious video of Frank racing to the finish.

Lara - March 7, 2011 - 12:59 am

I’m so thankful to have connected with Shelly at Created for Care (ha – even though I didn’t actually meet her until a week later!) She has been so instrumental in our adoption and such a blessing to me as we have gone through this transition. Love that gal!

Amy @ Filled With Praise - March 7, 2011 - 7:17 am

Yay Frank! So proud of you!!! Thank you for running for me.

Praying for your family’s week.
Love,
Amy

Tamara Robinson - March 7, 2011 - 9:36 am

Andrea, God has certainly blessed you for raising your hands up to him to be used! Thank you for sharing the living gospel. It always seems I study the word and then you post a living example just after! I love it!

Kim - March 7, 2011 - 10:28 am

Thank you for the kleenex warning! Incredible video of incredible love in action!

Elizabeth - March 7, 2011 - 10:34 am

It was SO great to meet you and talk with you on Saturday! I loved seeing so many people coming together on a yucky, rainy day just for the orphans and widows thousands of miles away–how cool is that??
I can’t wait to see how the Lord continues to use Wiphan to make Himself known around this world and especially to those precious ones in Zambia.

Ashley - March 7, 2011 - 11:07 am

All I could think about as I watched Frank’s video was how awesome that Father / son relationship is…and how it completely parallels our relationship with our Heavenly Father. He’s always right there, encouraging us, pushing us on, and letting us know He’s right behind us. Frank is blessed with both fathers.

ps – my 3 year old daughter is sitting on my lap chanting “Go Frank, Go Frank, Go Frank!” :0)

Brittany - March 7, 2011 - 11:35 am

What determination your little one has…Go Frank! Thanks for letting me be a part of race day, even from South Florida!

Amanda - March 8, 2011 - 5:15 pm

It was SO great to chat with you on Saturday! It made my heart so happy to see so many people come together for the orphan and the widow. I know God has some awesome plans in the works!

Elle J - March 8, 2011 - 7:09 pm

Thanks for running for me Frank!!! I was so happy to see that you hit every puddle – and you never gave up! Thank you for making a difference for my sponsored child, Margret, on behalf of me on the West Coast who could not attend. Way to go, Buddy!!!

To the FINISH! (The Warthog Waddle – Part 1)

Well…if there’s one boy I’m proud of today–it’s the little trouper who refused a ride in a stroller and RAN the ENTIRE race! He was the sweeper for race day…but the cheers from the crowd as he came made this momma so proud! SERIOUSLY?! What 2 year old has this kind of determination?! He woke […]

I get chills looking at the pictures of Frank running for me and everyone else that could not attend but would have enjoyed to. I especially loved seeing the room filled with so many people loving Wiphan – makes me smile thinking how great for my sweet girl and all of her friends who are being loved and cared for by so many!! Great work, Andrea and Team! xoxo

Melanie - March 6, 2011 - 3:55 pm

I absolutely LOVE reading your blog! I have been friends with the Bowen’s for many years and love the work of WIPHAN. I can’t even remember how I linked to your blog, but it was a joy to read your about your “journey to Isaac!” I’m so proud of Frankie baby for running the entire race! Thanks again for your blog. God uses your words to encourage and challenge me. And….I LOVE YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY!! I realized after finding your blog that you were friends with Addie. I love the pics you have done of her family! Blessings!!

allie - March 6, 2011 - 9:55 pm

i can’t thank you enough for taking the time to plop down on the floor with us and chat. It was wonderful to meet you and your two littles. Thanks for sharing, too…

Andrea - March 6, 2011 - 10:24 pm

Glad it turn out great for Wiphan even with the rain. Your kids are always so stinkin’ cute!

Frankie-baby love…

So…we have nothing to worry about our house–because we officially have 24-7 security going on…I mean–he is intimidating…RIGHT??? My kids play dress up 24/7–and today was policeman day for Frank… I’m not sure why the Lightning McQueen rainboots or pj bottoms go with this outfit…but just roll with it. THEN…I got a really fun little […]

Your daughter is beautiful!!! and Frank makes me smile. =) We are tea drinkers here too, so I relate to your comment about cup o tea and quiet time with your fav buddy. My hubby likes green tea plain, and I like Chamomile with sugar. =)

Kim - February 28, 2011 - 9:47 am

Love that Frank. And when did Laney start looking so big? OH MY … she is gorgeous (just like her Momma)!
Guess who I met Sunday in Hong Kong? Caytie from Walking It Out. I am hoping to meet Miss Sadie on Thursday! How exciting is that?
Thank you for “introducing” sending her my way.
Love & Blessings from Hong Kong,
Kim

1.) Frank is hilarious and adorable! 2.) Lanie is STUNNING. What a beautiful little girl! (I definitely think you need another girl around the house, by the way!) 3.) I love a good cup of hot tea. My favorite is Tazo Earl Gray with honey (http://www.starbucksstore.com/products/shprodde.asp?SKU=271927). So good!

Theresa - February 28, 2011 - 1:11 pm

Alison - February 28, 2011 - 2:37 pm

Precious, precious pictures!! Frank cracks me up, and Laney is just beautiful!! And my favorite is Earl Gray k-cups in the Keuring in the morning! So easy and so yummy! And I add a packet of Truvia! Oh, and I am an Anne of Green Gables lover too!!! In fact, Jody knows that my dream vacation is to one day go to Prince Edward Island! 🙂

The Warthog Waddle

Yep–it’s TIME to register forrrrr…THE WARTHOG WADDLE! Every year, Wiphan focuses on ONE big fundraiser…last year it was the cookbooks–and THIS year…we are runnin’ off all that cookin’! Wiphan Care Ministries is a ministry that we LOVE and love being a part of–and would LOVE for you to join us in caring for the orphans […]
