Falling in love with the Savior…

As Valentine’s approaches…I am reminded of the one who persues me with an everlasting love… “I have loved you with an everlasting love and I will continue my constant love” Jeremiah 31:3 His love is forever. It is constant. It will never stop. Be still…feel His love embracing you… “The mountains may depart and the […]

Job 22:1-25:6

Today’s Scripture Reading: Job 22:1-25:6 Chapter 22 We start today’s reading with Eliphaz’s third response to Job…and his opinion of Job hasn’t changed at all. His friends continue to chastise and degrade him…telling Job again and again that if he would just turn from his wicked ways, his problems would disappear. Can you imagine Job’s […]

LOL! You and I put the same Isaiah verse on our posts today! We are so alike!

Megan - January 26, 2010 - 10:44 am

Wow! Powerful words Andrea, thank you!
Chapter 22: I really can’t believe how Eliphaz is giving Job a list of his sins, when he obviously doesn’t even have the foggiest clue about him! I can’t even imagine saying something like that to someone!
Chapter 23: In Job’s response, you can hear the confidence in my voice! It seems the more he searches, the more confidence he can claim! I’m so proud of him for standing up for himself! I think it is really easy when people are accusing you to either hush up and listen, or after a while kind of wonder if they are true. You wonder if you missed something in your own life. Job stuck to his guns! And again, my commentary speaks about Job’s honesty with God. “God is not afraid of our feelings, and strong emotions are a natural part of life. We should not label them good or bad. It is how we choose to express them and deal with them that God is concerned about. Honest assessment of our feelings is important as we seek spiritual growth.” Those are important words for me to hear.
Chapter 24: My commentary here summed it all up so well.
“As we face a momentous loss, we are often compelled to rediscover the foundations of our faith. Job probed the whole realm of God’s justice, judgment, and timing, and he came to a humble conclusion: God’s ways are just. We are often confused by his timing, but his ways are ultimately just.”
“Our need for security affects our decisions, attitudes, and actions every day. Each of us has a working definition of security, and we fear anything that threatens it. Job’s entire foundation in this world has been shaken, and yet he learned an important lesson: Real security doesn’t lie in what this world has to offer; it lies in the consistency, the justice, the faithfulness, and the overwhelming power and love of God.”
Chapter 25 & 26: Bildad is short and sweet, “How much less are mere people, who are but worms in his sight?” (25:6) Job is not denying God’s power, he is acknowledging it. “These are some of the minor things he does, merely a whisper of his power. Who can understand the thunder of his power?” (26:14)

Chronological Bible Study – Finished up Genesis…and on to Job!

I’m so excited to be back on track…I was reading away while I was gone–and it’s probably a blessing that the retreat didn’t have the internet…but blogging the readings truly is such good accountability! Don’t you need it?! I know I do!!! And wanna see the Lord work powerfully in your life? I DO! To […]

Thank you Andrea for your honest words…they inspire me! I agree that when you are in His word daily, He speaks to you and guide you in ways that you may have missed otherwise just by not being close enough to Him to recognize His voice!
In all honesty, I’ve never been great about doing daily devotions and Bible readings. I’ve struggled with it all my life. I’ve never signed up for a Bible study b/c my husband and I have always had crazy work schedules. For the same reason we haven’t joined small groups. But it’s pretty rare that I don’t have access to the internet, so I thought this was a great way to be held accountable!
I love how my mind is so filed with His voice throughout the day. The more I delve in, the more I want to know. God is good!

Andrea Young - January 19, 2010 - 6:24 am

Thank you for sharing Megan! What a beautiful testimony of being in His Word!

Melissa - January 19, 2010 - 12:52 pm

Oh, yes! I am so glad you posted about Frankie. I followed their blog for about a month and learned all about Haitian adoptions through them, then I deleted it for some reason. Then all this happened and I wondered what happened to that family, but I could not remember the blog name or the child’s name,so I could not find it on the internet. I was thrilled to hear that he is ok and how neat that Diane Sawyer picked him up and they were able to be on ABC to spread the word. So amazing! I started crying when I saw this! Praise Jesus! Thanks for sharing!

I’m back! New and (improved? maybe) but refreshed for sure!

Another sweet piece of our adoption story… What a joy and a blessing to be able to retreat this weekend at a Cup of Joy (www.cupofjoy.org) ministry retreat, yet I really missed writing about my daily scripture reading (BUT it was SOOOOO good this weekend if you are reading along, wasn’t it?!). Jesus retreated away […]

Love it Andrea! I am always so amazed when God becomes so personal. He hears our hearts and questions and answers in such a sweet tender way. I bet you were bawling…Geez…Hope you had tissues with you!

Such a beautiful reminder that God has you where you are to be. Right inside His will. Again, I love how God uses situations to bless us.

I just love God moments like this… we call them “YEAH God” moments .. seeing how he works through every detail is just beyound our comprehension. Thanks for sharing your powerful message .. how quickly we lose perspective while busy with all the small stuff!

Melissa - January 18, 2010 - 10:49 am

WOw! So neat! I got chills and I was crying too when I read this! God truly does meet us where we need him! What a special blessing! I cannot believe the verse said Orphan and Ethiopia! Amazing!

Dawn - January 18, 2010 - 1:15 pm

What a beautiful way to be refreshed…by God’s AMAZING word!!!! I have been feeling refreshed because of some awesome words He has given me as well. How GREAT it is to be in His Word & in His Will!

Jackie - January 18, 2010 - 1:24 pm

I just have tears streaming down my face. I know this so well… it reminds me of how God orchestrated our own adoption from Russia, and how he would use Scripture or even people to come across my path to remind me that he was still “in” this even though there was no movement. He was still orchestrating everything behind the scenes for us to adopt our son. I love how he orchestrated that Scripture reading just for you. Isn’t He awesome??? I just love that the translation you had is the one that references Ethiopia. I grabbed my Bible to check mine and it didn’t have it. I love it!

There is a wonderful song by Steven Curtis Chapman called “Believe Me Now” and whenever I heard that song I would remember all the times God would whisper in my ear… “I’m in this, I’m right here.” It minstered to me so much. I left my family blog here, but the address to our adoption blog is http://www.stepbystep2russia.blogspot.com You’ll find that song and a photo slide show of our son. Thank you for such a blessing to read today. Such a wonderful devotion! God bless you as you wait on God’s timing for your next little child.

awesome post my friend!! that is a FABULOUS new born shot!! The wait was easy for me UNTIL I got to the #1 spot..and there I sat FOREVER!! I lost all patience and thought I’d throw up every day…THEN…losing referral was HARD…then waiting the 3 extra weeks to get LLM’s referral was EXCRUCIATING!! (sp?) THEN, it was hard all the way up until I boarded the plane…then I could deep breathe and finally relax…crazy, but yes, so worth it 🙂 kj

Andrea - December 30, 2009 - 11:27 am

Kristi–honestly, the Lord continues to use those of YOU who have traveled this road before to REMIND me how HIS plan and wait is WORTH it! Seeing those chubby cheeks and BIG happy smile on LLM’s face…SO WORTH THE WAIT. I love how God brings others in our lives at the perfect time to remind us…and He has been using you in my life during this journey and others who have traveled this road to remind me of His perfect plan…so I wait with joy:)…most of the time;)

Amy @ Filled With Praise - December 30, 2009 - 12:04 pm

Thank you for sharing your heart. Your story is much like our story with Ryann. I posted it a couple of few weeks ago. I think that God has been aligning our lives to make this journey together and we will forever be friends.
Blessings,
Amy

Andrea - December 30, 2009 - 4:11 pm

I agree sweet Amy! So funny how similar our stories are…and even crazier that we are right beside one another in line! And even crazier that our family lives in Columbia, TN…so getting our babies together during special holidays and visits will be so much fun!!! I remember reading your story of Ryann a few weeks ago and smiling that it reminded me of ours!!! XOXO!

Pam - December 30, 2009 - 8:35 pm

Well, I wasn’t on an adoption waiting list, but the month it took after our in-vitro was the LONGEST one of my life. When we found out that not even one of our 4 babies (embryos) made was probably one of the hardest things I have ever dealt with. Talk about crying, I was a basket case for quite a while. But thankfully, we serve an on-time God who knew there was going to be a sweet lady who was pregnant and couldn’t raise her baby. Had even one of the 4 babies survived, I wouldn’t have my Sam and my life wouldn’t be anywhere as wonderful as it is with him in it. God already knows your baby and the exact time He will give him/her to you. I too am not a patient person, but God’s timing is perfect and He is smiling at you right now even through your tears and impatience. Know that I love you and cannot wait to meet baby #4!!!!!

admin - December 31, 2009 - 7:17 am

Pam–thank you so much for your words of encouragement!!! I think of Mr.Sam ALL THE TIME…and what a MIRACLE he is!!! I love seeing pictures of your sweet family and how full of JOY you ALL are…so complete! The Lord has done great things for you!!! I am so thankful to be a part of your story and to have you a part of mine! Love you sweet cousin!

julie johnston - December 31, 2009 - 7:32 pm

I am so in for the Bible reading! Really excited about this! Oh, and that is by far the cutest announcment ever :)Could just eat him up!
The past few weeks have been terrible hard with frustration and waiting…. we are trying to come up with our AGCI fees to move onto the dossier….needless to say, we anticipated the first part of the adoption costs to come in quickly. It has been discouraging, to say the least. Today, I almost hit despair….how will we ever get to 22K when we can’t even come up with agency fees? I so covet your prayers! I know our precious peanut in ET belongs to the Lord, but I want Him to bring here home NOW, on my time, not His! O, for a steadfast, trusting heart!

Jenny - January 2, 2010 - 1:46 pm

I don’t think I’ve commented to tell you I’m reading with ya:) I have a few fbook friends reading with us, too!
