Our drama continued…

OK—promised I’d post about our final movie filming, but I got side-tracked with our MAKING THE WAITLIST…and the “real life” stuff trumps the movie making ANY day!

Last Wednesday, we returned to the set to complete our filming in the movie “Life As We Know It” starring Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhemal which will premiere December 2010. Our crew was in the final scene (the birthday scene). We filmed once in October (if you missed that post…you can read about it here and our follow up filming was on the 11th. We were asked to arrive around 3pm (meaning we had to leave here at 2pm…meaning NONE of my crew would be getting their naps—meaning…this filming would be INTERESTING!)

We arrived on set where we got to see several of the little actors we had met before–and then our WAIT began. Gosh, I’m getting really good at waiting these days. Some one needs to brief Hollywood on not keeping a room full of toddlers WAITING. For a good while it was quite peaceful (thanks to Kelly bringing her stash of toys)…

Thankfully, they had lots of snacks, drinks and COFFEE provided for us during our wait…so most of us were good. Well, until one of the little actors puked his guts out. Sorry to be graphic. But there were all were, stuck in waiting…and we lost an actor. No worries—the party must go on in show business;)
I know Kelly loves me for dragging her into this with me. Kelly has been my VBFF forever…we met in 7th grade…and it would just be wrong to be in a movie without her. Although we both agree we like being pampered, we also both agree that this movie business is NOT for us…but we thankfully checked one fun thing off our bucket list—and our kids got to do it with us so it was well worth it…Kelly you look marvelous darling…

And neither Kelly or I got offended that the make-up artists told us we needed to wear more cover-up under our eyes. It is what it is…and we are busy, sleepless, crazy moms. So…bring on the cover-up.
We filmed for a couple of hours (after waiting about 5) and sang Happy Birthday…um…20 times. Josh and Katherine (yes, we are on a first name basis now;) were entertaining to watch and work with…don’t I sound legit?! And the only real glitches for us was explaining to Parker, Laney and Luke why we couldn’t ACTUALLY eat the cake. The birthday girl wasn’t a happy camper—but no worries…when you are a child start and you get fussy…you get the boot and one of your triplet sisters is brought in!

We were invited to stay after filming to the after filming party…which was QUITE entertaining I must say. Party favors in the $1500s were drawn (not like my typical party were we give $5 Starbuck favors) and we were under the big tent with a few stars, lots of film staff and…our toddlers. Was it late? Um…yes–like 10pm. But we were determine to stay, get the full effect and hang ’til the end.
I had a great little chat with Katherine about adoption and gave her a bag of 147 Million Orphan goodies…which she LOVED the beads…you can buy some for Christmas gifts like I did yesterday here: http://147millionorphans.com/more-stuff/ugandan-magazine-beads

Katherine is adopting a little girl from Korea—and it was fun to share our hearts for adoption. She was so excited to hear about our little man coming from Ethiopia…
I have to say Katherine is just the sweetest thing and full of personality! Just precious and I’m thrilled for her adoption and baby Neleigh! We definitely had a fun time filming, and Laney had fun sporting her favorite party dress too.

Oh Laney…the things your mommy gets you in to! And on a side note–Josh Duhemel is way cuter in person but I make no excuses for the recent tabloids and his ongoings in Atlanta. We’re just excited to make our movie appearance and to be completely normal…well, almost normal…over here at the Young house! One adventure after another…and always anticipating what God has in store for us next!
We are loving being on the WAITLIST! Can’t wait to get another phone call the first week of December for our new numbers!!!
XOXO!

I can't stop laughing at Laney-loo's picture with Katherine Heigl!! This is probably the funniest picture she's ever taken.. and when she's all grown up, she'll look back and think, "I was with a movie star and this is the face I made!" haha!!!

I love her sooooo much!!!!!!

What a fun opportunity! Very cool that you got to share 147 stuff with Katherine, too! I was just at Gwen's house tonight getting more necklaces for Christmas gifts. Love them :).

I love the picture of Laney and Katherine…priceless. Thanks for sharing about your fun. I think I will stay out of the movie business, but it was fun to see it though your experience 🙂 So, glad you are on the waiting list too! Did you see all of the court and travel dates that were given this week. I can only guess that lots of referrals will be given after December 🙂
Blessings,
Amy

Great story – love Katherine Heigl, she is such a sweetheart.

[…] as I cleaned our files, I stumbled upon 6 random checks from the movie we were in last Fall (another crazy story of God’s provision). We also randomly last week got a check in the mail from a past photography job that I decided […]
